Aaron the Great

  • Who Can Direct? Anyone

Aaron Spencer, Harvard medical student, has accomplished a lot in his young life. He’s a world-famous writer, a renowned artist, and a talented piano player, all while still being a student at one of the most prestigious universities in the country. How did he accomplish all of this? By inventing a drug that eliminates his sleep cycle altogether, allowing him to work and practice 24 hours a day, nonstop. His roommate Jesse is worried about the drug’s side effects: massive hallucinations. Aaron ignores his warnings and continues preparing for his upcoming interview with Johns Hopkins hospital, even as his hallucinations worsen.

On the day of the interview, Aaron asks for Jesse’s help to get to the interview, but callously sends him away once he arrives. The interview goes surprising well despite multiple hallucinations and interruptions, but in the end, Aaron breaks down in front of the hospital board members and collapses. He wakes up in the hospital two months later, with Jesse by his side. Aaron is devastated that he didn’t get the position, but Jesse convinces him that it’s okay to not be perfect and succeed at everything. Aaron takes the remaining drugs, throws them away, and goes to sleep.
