Luis, a young Mexican immigrant lives in 1995 Utah. He slowly tries to acclimate to a new culture, language, and societal expectations. His parents still reside in Mexico, as his father is very sick, so Luis helps by sending them money. One day, he gets a call from his mother saying that Luis should come home because his father may not last much longer. From here, Luis battles racial stereotyping and prejudice as he tries to find a steady job so that he can afford the trip.
