A young man struggles to impress his father as he attempts to qualify for Olympic weightlifting.
Lee, a young weight lifter wins a competition. He navigates a complicated relationship with his father, David, who is also his coach. David pushes Lee to be the best version of himself but pushes the boundaries of motivation and abuse. After a particularly hard work out their relationship is strained as they go into the final qualifying match before the Olympics. Lee is consumed by his anxieties and fails to lift the required weight. After the competition, Lee imagines what he wanted from his relationship with his father and contrasts it with the reality before him.
