Kyle and Jack begin dating, and while Kyle is open about his mental health struggles, Jack is apprehensive. When Kyle ends up going inpatient for his bipolar, Jack blames himself and describes taking care of Kyle as a “job,” which upsets Kyle. Jack doesn’t hear from Kyle for a while. He spends an evening with other queer Mormon friends, seeking solace in the messages from General Conference. He goes to Kyle’s apartment to retrieve his journal, and while there finds mementos of times they spent together. Jack remembers many ways in which Kyle took care of him. He finds Kyle’s journal and reads an entry from when Kyle had first been diagnosed that mentions his fear of being a burden on those around him. Kyle finally calls and Jack apologizes. They make plans for Jack to come visit during visiting hours. He drops the journal off for Kyle and meets him, ready to work with Kyle in his struggles.
