Miles Warnock wants to use the money from selling his late dad’s cabin to kickstart a glass-blowing career, something his father Ronny was never brave enough to do. He chooses to go even though he’s supposed to stay home and take care of his son James while his wife Amy is at a poetry workshop. Once there, Miles starts to see his father in both vision and memory, finding things that inevitably connect him to his troubling past. After an especially unsavory memory of Ronny causing a scene at Miles and Amy’s wedding, Miles finds an old gift from his father that skews his perception of his father and his own responsibilities. After burning his dad’s old things, he returns home to his family, taking only the gift with him.
