The Filipino King

Danilo, a Filipino 13-yr-old, pretends to be Brazilian as he tries to become the team captain of the soccer team he just joined.

New kid on the block Danilo arrives to his first team soccer practice. Danilo is from the Philippines, but lies about being Brazilian in order to seem cooler and better at soccer. There he meets Hayden, a hyperactive boy who is fascinated by his Brazilian heritage. Danilo's mom and Hayden's mom meet at practice, and it is revealed that Danilo is actually from the Philippines.

Coach Keating announces the team needs a captain, and Danilo is set on being it. They practice and their equal skills are showcased. Captainship will be decided based on their performances on the first game. After practice, Hayden learns that Danilo is not from Brazil.

At the game, Danilo and Hayden fight to be the best on the field. After a hard-fought game, Danilo gives Hayden the game-winning pass and he is celebrated as captain, instead of Hayden. Danilo learns through Hayden's ranting that he knows Danilo isn't from Brazil. Deciding to do the right thing, Danilo refuses his crowning moment and secedes the captainship to Hayden, who admires Danilo's honor and suggests they become co-captains.
